  1. It's surprising for me to hear a generation of people say, "I'm from America," my generation would never say that, we would say, "I'm from the United States." Calling the US "America" seems a very British thing to do. The same generation I also hear saying "cheers!" when they end a phone conversation and talking about being "at university" instead of the American "in college" - I heard one moke talking about being "in hospital" and we've all heard them trying to say "lovely" every third word like a true Brit. Wow! do they sound laughably pretentious. Where does this aping of Britspeak come from? watching too much Downtown Abbey? What's next? "pip pip cheerio"? 🤣🤣 that's exactly how ridiculous they sound
