  5. as a long time retailer, the last time i caught a shoplifter, i called the police. it took them about an hour to arrive (the police station was roughly 3/4 of a mile away) the cop scolded me for detaining the shoplifter longer than law permits. i never again called the police. so as for them being "allowed" to do their job.....my experience says they dont WANT to do their job.

  6.  @noahchopson7136  a cops job is to enforce laws, thats likely the reason we refer to them as "law enforcement" (shoplifting is a crime)
