Brian K before Medicare, 1/3 or 1/2 of elderly people couldn't afford healthcare because private insurance companies charged them 3 times more than the rest of the population(of course back then Conservatives called Medicare socialism, said implementing it would be the end of freedom... now Republicans are scared to touch it cause they know it's one of the most popular programs) also in the US drug prices are much much higher than they are in other countries specifically because of lack of government intervention. Just look at the facts instead of blindly following anti government dogma
