I moved out of the city because it was too expensive. So can you. So do most people. Or get a smaller place. Economic problems incur economic solutions. The tent cities, the rampant petty and serious crime is a drug problem. But progs refuse to call a spade a spade.

@harnessriscallous7466 ok. Not what I was referring to. Addicted mothers are probably not giving the best care to their children. And probably need to get clean before they can.

@harnessriscallous7466 Or they may just OD in privacy with their baby slowly dying of starvation next to them. Giving an addict a house isn't a cure all. Houses don't magically cure addiction, and as one of the presenters stated addicts tend not to live in the houses provided. Their affliction forces them to be in spitting distance of their source and dealers.

@harnessriscallous7466 I'll ignore your ad-hominem to get at the crux of your argument. I don't believe your axiom is true. That housing helps stimy addiction more than jail. But I agree with you that jail is a bad solution. The optimal solution wouldn't be housing or jail but an addiction specialized clinic and psychiatric care facility payed by the state. It would be expensive for taxpayers but less expensive than the countless tertiary crimes caused by addiction. It would be better for the addicts, the children of addicts and the taxpayers.

Depression, trauma, boredom, self medicating, fun, experimentation. Drugs are a shortcut to the rewards center of our brain, and we are all just monkeys pulling happy levers in our life to avoid thinking about the abyss.
