  1. Crimeans aren't ethnic Russians. Crimeans are ethnic tartars. Russia Russified Crimea via force. The same as they did in Transnistria, Kaliningrad, and much of Lithuania. All of these territorial disputes can be traced back to forced Russification by the Soviets and Russian empire.

  2. Zelensky's position is understandable given Ukraine's circumstances and goals. NATO's position is also understandable given their avoidance of direct war with Russia. Despite Putinist rhetoric, the simple fact is, If Ukraine was part of NATO before 2014 this war would have never happened.   3.  @brianbauer8761  maybe, maybe not, The Russification strategy may be spreading Russian forces too thin. Transnistria, Kaliningrad and other Russification enclaves can't survive if Russia falls into civil war. If/when that happens Russification enclaves may become independent.

Despite Putinist Rhetoric this war is accelerating NATO expansion. (Finland, Sweden) It seems every time Russia invades one of its neighbors NATO membership goes up.
