  27. I've seen the, rack the bolt to empty the chamber and remove the mag (leaving a new round in the chamber), far too many times in the military. I forbade my guys from using the US military clearing procedures as a result, as the US military procedures CAUSED discharges. 1) drop the mag 2) rack the bolt 3x 3) put on safe, DO NOT PULL THE TRIGGER!!!!!! If you messed something up, on #2 rounds will start flying out (if you only do it once you will likely miss it). If this happens, repeat steps 1-3 until it doesn't happen. This clearing procedure is faster and resulted in no discharges that I ever witnessed. And I made a point to ignore military procedure at the clearing barrels and do it my way instead in full view of Colonels and Generals just waiting for one of them to get mad at me, but they never did. I even taught a group of guys my procedure once, right in front of a full bird Colonel and told them to never let me catch them using the printed procedure again. I also had a different procedure for the M240 and M249 as well.

  50. the US legal definition of the militia is the entire adult citizenry of the US of draft age or older. the State National Guards are not legally militia, they are regular military. A militia legally cannot be used outside the borders of the US, and a militia is also not subject to UCMJ, whereas the National Guard can, and does, deploy to fight in foreign countries, and they are subject to UCMJ.
