  3.  @falconrising27  you figure out what is true by applying first principles and basic logic. try to falsify the claims of both sides. Whoever is telling the truth, their ideas/claims will withstand scrutiny. You can also create thought experiments to test ideas at their most fundamental rather quickly and easily, and you can conduct other basic experiments to test ideas as well, depending upon what the claim is. sometimes both sides are partially right and partially wrong. Not every ideas is 100% right nor 100% wrong. Justifying what you believe requires merely supporting facts (not opinions, no logical fallacies, no appeals to authority, etc.) and logically consistent arguments that hold up when tested. Yes, being insanely curious makes one open to more ideas, and makes one potentially more susceptible to being fooled by false ideas. but it also makes one more likely to be exposed to enough info to be able to discern the truth as well.
