i don't like Arcady wargames. i like realism.

any propulsive force will move a hovering helicopter, including the wind.

@_Matsimus_ we used unarmored vehicles in Afghanistan, and for good reason. worked great. but the weather wasn't miserable as it is in teh northern US states/Canada. but even still, certain units never had weather protection to begin with.

@ would be easy to do, like a soft top Humvee

Why is it disliked? because it is a propaganda plane, a mere 4th gen fighter meant to scare people and everyone believes the blatant lies and propaganda. USAF collected radar data on it in teh South China Sea and recently said they are not concerned about the J-20 at all. Basically, it's not a stealth and we can see/shoot it just fine. Don't forget China's lack of adequate indigenous engines.

it will engage anything that it ends up facing, including tanks, regardless what the woke politically correct generals in the military say. a tank is a tank, an armored rolling pillbox with some sort of armament. still a tank.

@danialnajmuddin3729 yes, Ukraine is a near peer to Russia. Neither Ukraine nor Russia is a near Peer to the US. Neither would last even a month against the US.

@R83jf8whdih1o Israel and US have penetrated S300 with impunity and more systems in Syria and Iran. And then there is the utter destruction of S400 systems in Ukraine/Russia. Patriot has been continuously upgraded over the decades and has a decades long track record of success, including in Ukraine and Iraq. F-16 was also right overhead of multiple launchers 30yrs ago, and Su-34 was miles from a single patriot launcher and still barely survived when others did not.

The US military has been doing this for many decades

NATO has jamming and air power. a lot harder for for Russia to do it becasue they suck at war.
1
you can feel the blast at least 20miles away

We used John Deere Gators and DO Kings in support of foot patrols in Afghanistan. Used them to carry supplies, stretchers, mount machine guns...

@louiscypher4186 That's what Seabees and Army engineers are for. Look at WW2 and see if you can find an example of Marine engineers doing that work.

I believe it potentially gives more standoff capability too, does it not?

@HailAzathoth sure, but the idea being that the glide wings enable the torpedo to be roped from higher, as well as further away from target than it otherwise would have been released. A glider weapon's range depends upon the altitude at time of release (like the small diameter glide bombs). But how far can they be from a target and have targeting data? depends upon what info is shared between assets I imagine. So is it more just about altitude of release, or also about extending the weapon range?

2000 miles without issues... regular scheduled maintenance and preventative maintenance is not an "issue". I've driven multiple military vehicles in combat for years, far more than a mere few thousand miles, with no major issues.

I've never had a malfunction using blanks (M4 or M16). maybe I was just lucky. But I've shot a lot of blanks through them.

tanks aren't even close to being obsolete (russia just sucks at using theirs), and the US and others have more low tech AT weapons than high tech AT weapons for the common foot soldier. People always struggle to accept the concept of acceptable losses.
