@ModernKnight but I though gunpowder wasn't invented in Europe? Astrolabe was 225 BCE Compass is questionable, possibly came from China. You've got a few there, but very little to support calling the Medieval period a scientific era. People are always coming up with ideas in any era. but how systematic was their technique, and how many life changing inventions and discoveries did they come up with is what I judge on. And the medieval period is a drought, a slump, in discoveries and innovation. Civilizations in europe before and after made much more progress.

@ModernKnight No, I appreciate the list, and I acknowledge you were able to list multiple examples. But my point is that scientific progress is relative, and that it seems to have slowed in the medeival period, hence the perception, and that perception is not going to go away as a result.
