@stephenfritz7493 no worries. some things disappear and are hard to find again. I've been trying to find a video of a super cub taking off backwards in a strong headwind for years. Saw it long ago, and periodically search again, and can't find it. Also trying to find footage of an A-10 gun attack in Afghanistan in low light conditions, that made it look like a fire breathing dragon swooping down a mountain side. Tried and failed for years to find a copy of that footage again.

@RainKing048 but it is such a cool design, and based on a reasonable set of ideas. To make a fighter particularly stealthy it needs 2 vertical fins so you can cant them. A low cost fighter uses one engine. The F-16 and F-16XL are dominant single engine fighter designs. The XL idea can get that extra fuel weight for extended range on internal fuel while remaining stealthy. Add the F-16DSI diverter-less intake and those new stealth coatings (which have been tested on F-16s already with great effect) and you're well on the way to a low cost stealth aircraft option for mass production. Keep in mind how close many artist renderings were of the B-21 and 6th gen compared to what we've seen so far.

But even ignoring the land invasion that was to kick off in November 1945, 2 months (Aug/Sep) of fire bombing Japanese cities alone would have killed more people than were killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That's easy to estimate. But even if the land invasion happened and lower casualties occurred than were estimated, it would still be more dead by far at that point than the nukes (even if you just count the casualties from Nov/Dec 1945). And that's assuming they surrendered in Dec. Had they held out longer the damage would have been far worse. Not to mention the continued fire bombings in Nov/Dec and beyond. A single night of B-29 raids could hit 3 Japanese cities at once and do more damage to each city than either of the nukes did. So it's Very easy to estimate, even with very conservative numbers.

@aldopedroso6212 yes, but the navy and air arms posed no real threat to a US invasion. they had no ability to impede the landings. Most of the aircraft and ships that survived did so by not being in Japan.

@aldopedroso6212 Prior to Hiroshima, the US pilots were shooting up everything that moved. they were running out of things to shoot at and started strafing power plants, fishing boats, etc. Tell me how many ships the US lost to suicide boats n WW2....even the Japanese lacked confidence in the idea. The Kamikazes were being dealt with by this point. to prove it, on the day Japan surrendered, disgruntled Japanese pilots conducted kamikaze raids and all were shot down with no hits. Most never even got close to a target. How many midget subs were used successfully in WW2 by the Japanese, not counting Pearl Harbor? They had a whole mess of them in Alaska, to no avail. the video doesn't give proper context, like how many of these things weren't in Japan proper, and not in a position to affect an invasion in any manner. No ship left in Japan home islands was combat capable when Hiroshima was bombed, and their air power was all but ineffective by that point, with B-29 raids operating with near impunity. How many B-29 of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki raids were attacked by fighters? and they weren't even escorted.

@yoseipilot sure they did. but no skilled pilots nor fuel. If they could have used them, they would have. Instead they resorted to some pretty desperate attempts at building wooden ultralights and other crazy designs at the end of teh war. The US had air superiority over Japan in August 1945. Japan didn't even send up fighters to intercept either of the B-29s dropping the nukes. The pickings were so slim for pilots that, only one P-51 pilot flying over Japan became an ace prior to the war's end with the bare minimum of 5 kills. There was simply nothing left for US pilots to shoot at for the most part.

@yoseipilot B-29 had a higher kill ratio against Japanese fighters than the P-51 did. "Americans make 1 nuke per 5 years" wrong. US was in WW2 for only 4yrs, and built 3 bombs, and those were not made until the later years. and production was going to ramp up. Broadcasting use of the nukes had no connection with production rates. The top surviving ace from Japan was Saburo Sakai, and he was wounded in a way that made him less effective as a pilot. Part of why he survived, as he was essentially spared from teh worst combat of the war for japanese pilots. Many japanese pilots were far better than Sakai, but they all died. ramming was effective, but not enough to matter. Yet, despite having as many planes as you claim they still failed to put them in the air and swarm the B-29. You're coping really hard here.

@rogersmith7396 But people also claim wrecks, to come back later and continue investigating. Though people could still try to slip in and steal things, or govs like Spain file lawsuits in international court. So if spain can sue to claim centuries-lost treasure galleons full of gold they stole from other places, why can't teh US do similar in claiming teh F-35 since they know of it and where it was lost?

@manteca2132 they have evidence, some you just missed. Many channels are dedicated to just this, go find them. Also, some evidence Ukraine and others use is classified, not available to you, becasue of how the evidence was collected.

@knighthunteroi they didn't have anything close to being able to support the needs of modern jets. No IFR navigation, no GPS navigation. Thirsty jets and helos on limited fuel reserves. You'd severely degrade their fuel situation just to fly these jets. WW2 aircraft used Chaff. Curious how missiles behave when trying to target a tight cluster of tens to hundreds of slow moving maneuverable airplanes, would they keep switching targets, or get confused at all? Time to integrate the fighters and develop tactics for proper use and employment. Either the jets would fall under existing commanders and be used improperly, or there might be a power struggle. Also, the modern Luftwaffe is an allied force, not a Nazi force, so would they really fight against the allies? if only equipment is time warped, who would operate it? the jets would be destroyed just trying to figure out how to fly them, and would take decades to understand how the tech works to repair or maintain them. Imagine WW2 scientists trying to figure out what an integrated circuit is, or a CPU chip?

@knighthunteroi what do you mean by "rigged". Do you mean repair? Or do you merely mean, attach bombs to teh wings?

@knighthunteroi But without GPS, many systems don't work as well, and you can't do flights in any weather. The weather they can operate in becomes more restricted. No IFR capability.

@knighthunteroi for a few years? Maybe a few weeks in combat ops. The kind of tempo they'd have to maintain would run those jets ragged. They have life limited components, and combat ops put wear and tear on things. There will be damage, accidents... Every jet you cannibalize hastens the end of their operations overall. Many materials would need all new manufacturing to be developed and started, and that wouldnt be ready until after the jets were already out of the fight for want of parts. You can't reverse engineer 75yrs of computer tech, metallurgy, composites, sensors, etc. in even a few years. No technical know-how within the military ranks to recreate all of that. Technology would advance more quickly with access to future tech, but not in time to do much for the war effort. Most of that benefit would happen After the war was already over. The jets of WW2 are primitive in every way compared to a modern jet fighter. You can't just duct-tape these things together.
