Einstein used Philosophy to come up with Relativity BEFORE solving the math. Newton used Philosophy to come up with Gravity BEFOR solving the math. Faraday used Philosophy to come up with his ideas on Electromagnetism BEFORE Maxwell came along to help him.

3 people are trying to debate real science and possibilities in a critical manner, one person is trying to push his pet theory as fact and trying to convince everyone he's right, derailing the ENTIRE conversation.
2
@Thomas-gk42 that's for the person making the claim to figure out, not me. but it has to be objective, most likely based upon real accomplishments such as published and validated theories, as well as the impact on physics as a result of those theories. Sabine does all the same things myself and others do. she is saying what many have said for decades. she just does it to a wider audience. that doesn't make her smarter than everyone, she's actually late to the party.
2
shouldn't add unnecessary assumptions: Dark Matter, Dark Energy, etc. Scientists do this all the time to make their theories work when they don't fit the data, rather than adjusting the theory.
2
Science has ALWAYS accommodated subjectivity. If you're relying upon subjectivity to drive your opinions of science, then it's NOT science. Science relies upon repeatability and consistency. If everyone tests your theory and gets the same results every time, there is No room for subjectivity.

Not enough people bring up what Bjorn does. The standard model could very well be wrong at much more fundamental level. It's very good, but not good enough. The next theory would replace the standard model and explain everything it does and more. Just as Relativity replaced Newton's theory in the same manner. Even if the current standard model is wrong, doesn't mean it's work can't still remain useful, just as we continue to use Newtonian gravity all the time, knowing it's wrong. It's simple and good enough for most things we do on earth.

"So Sabine, one of the most brilliant physicists alive" that's a bold claim. how do you plan on proving that?
1
@Thomas-gk42 none of that proves the claim
1
@johnpaulquijano how does that prove anything? over 60% of all published research and PhD thesis are false. Demanding credentials to determine intelligence is childish and anti-science. "Appeal to Authority" is a logical fallacy in science, a false and invalid argument. How about you stick to the rules of science and the scientific method. the smarter person wins by using logic to validate their claim based solely upon the facts at hand. if you cannot do that, then you cannot win, and you're wrong. Exactly the type of unscientific response I'd expect from people who think I'm wrong. How about you prove her right and me wrong?
1
@thezanke probably because people disagree with the unqualified opinion made in the first 8 words, and didn't disagree with the rest....did you even stop to consider that? Intelligent conversation, requires intelligence.
1
@thezanke "doesn't stop it from being comical to watch the nitpickers and pedants that can't separate a point from an opinion." you're literally contradicting yourself with that statement. First you complain people isolate one aspect of an argument to criticize, and now you're complaining they Aren't separating out singular aspects of an argument? Are you bipolar? Make up your mind. Also, being intolerant of criticism makes you anti-science. Opinions AND "points" are Both subject to criticism.

@johnpaulquijano the question of how brilliant Sabine is, has nothing to do with MY credentials. But yes, I hold 4 STEM degrees (more total college education than Sabine). I have multiple world records and world firsts in outer space. I hold tens of patents. Have enough material for about 30 different books on a range of topics (mostly math, physics, education, engineering), many I'll never get around to writing/finishing since I simply don't have that much time on my hands. What are YOUR credentials? But none of that determines if Sabine is truly as brilliant as you and others claim. Many things she covers in her videos, people like me have been saying for decades. She's just a popular and well spoken person with an open mind and is very scientific in her approach (something you clearly are not good at).
1
@thezanke " I also have no interest or time to argue with you and was not talking to you originally. " Yet here you are, wasting time arguing, liar. I don't care who you were talking to. You posted a comment on a public thread. Get over it. "Also, you might want to heed your own advice about taking criticism." Oh, in what way?

Physics wouldn't exist without Philosophy.
1
no amount of random data will prove something we can't observe, test, and verify.
1
Philosophy IS science. Philosophy is the Foundation of ALL science, including the foundation of the Scientific Method.
