  3.  @Sanderford  hence why most militaries have not had thermals, until recently, if even at all still. The US military is so large and powerful, there is not a single nation on earth that is its peer. People talk about "peer fight", yet that doesn't apply to the US. It applies to other nations though. The US military has become so powerful and good at what it does, it's actually kind of scary. Because when gov get that kind of power, they tend to do bad things thinking they are untouchable.

  5. don't forget Russia only survived WW2 due to MASSIVE western aid, and western allies opening up fronts in the Italy, France, Med, Atlantic, and strategic bombing. Meanwhile russia barely held on for years with only a single front.

  9.  @nick.v.g  yes, today, not 30yrs ago. but there are also different levels of quality among thermals as well. some can pick out more subtle detail at greater distances than others.

  10. in WW2, the US Navy used the TDR kamikaze drone against the Japanese in the Pacific. 50 missions, 19 intercepted by fighters or AAA, the remaining 31 all reached their targets and successfully hit their targets. That's a higher success rate than Russian "precision" weapons in Ukraine, and the US did that 78yrs ago.

And people had them before my unit go there. can't argue the facts, so you resort to insults. 2012? The war was already over in Iraq, and I'd already completed multiple combat tours.

  14. Soviet Propaganda was very good. but the Soviets were always at least 20yrs behind technologically. These days, Russia is more like 40yrs behind at best.

  20.  @williamhennings8579  Ukraine is not the US. they don't have access to all teh cool toys and training the US has at the individual soldier level. You can't impart tools and technology, and knowledge on people overnight.

They went from having a army just like RUssia, but with less technology, to being handed western weapons and gear "overnight". they went fron not having it one day, to having it the other. And after all this time, they only just now figured out how to use them against mines, something the US has been doing for multiple decades now. Takes time to learn these things when you never had them to use before. "Besides, who do you think may have come up with the concept of matting the thermal technology with the drones ... the Ukranians ... maybe ? " wow you are dumb. US has used thermals on drones for longer than I have been alive. US civilians have used thermally equipped drones for decades. Where do you think Ukraine got their thermals? from western-made civilian drone models. And from US supplied M2 Bradleys and such. That's where they got their thermals from. Ukraine invented NOTHING. Do you honestly believe Ukraine invented putting thermals on a police helicopter? or putting thermals on a MQ-1 Predator Drone? "The Ruzzkis are always playing catch-up with the innovative Ukranians." you finally got something right. "All's well bro, we're both rootin' for the same side." yes were are, but facts still matter, regardless.
