The Taliban used them effectively against us.

@Colinpark Quite possibly. Didn't get many good looks at them. They'd shoot and scoot. Or they'd use them to lob rounds over the FOB walls as artillery, but low trajectory to avoid the blimp radar and artillery counterfire, so we never saw those.

if they can make a laser-guided 50 cal bullet....

To be fair, $10 each launch is for a reusable rocket. High power rocketry converted to single-use is much more expensive. However, I agree it still would/should be far cheaper than what the military is paying.

@robertl6196 I know, I'm just thinking about how helicopters upgraded their unguided rockets to track laser designator beams to improve accuracy of the cheap rockets. And the laser guided 50cal. Why not incorporate such compact laser seekers into the warheads of rocket launchers and recoilless rifles like the Gustav and the LAW? Take cheap munitions, add simple seeker, and improve the existing weapons on the cheap.

Kind of like putting the warhead of the US Hornet mine onto a drone. And if you can deploy the warhead from the drone, you could reuse the drone multiple times. But keeping the drone cheap and simple also means you can afford to lose it as well if it were destroyed in the attack.
