  1. the number of movies and shows we can point to with great female characters going back to the 1970s or even earlier is astounding, and they weren't even trying to be "diverse" back then. And yet they did it FAR better.

  2.  @zombifiedpariah7392  Princess Leia, Elektra, Alien, Aliens, Apollo's wife in the original BSG show, Dr. Quinn, Cleopatra, Underworld, Wonder Woman, Ghost in the Shell, etc. When you start looking, examples come out of the wood work like crazy. I could spend hours digging up more examples. And Disney removed all the best female characters from Star Wars such as Winter, Mara Jade, Jiana Solo, and more. Tons of amazing female characters in fiction that never made it to the TV screen.

  8. the "villain" of Top Gun Maverick is patterned after Iran actually. F-14, and export Su-57 from Russia. A rogue state accessing nukes and jets from Iran. that was the enemy that was implied.
