If you have to get funding through the extortion of other peoples labour, you are literally stealing. TO make matters worse, that money is actually borrowed through a central banking fiat scheme known as the federal reserve. The real solution to this problem is to deregulate, and allow the costs to come down. Any time the EPA, Labour board and other regulatory bodies get involved, they drive up the costs so high that you and I can't afford to experiment. I would agree the military budget is way too high, and it would be better spent on science, however, it is still wrong to steal from others to fund things, even if you (or I) think its a good cause.

Energy is what allows us to explore new worlds. The military, as much as I love them, I wish this technology was more open to everyone to use.

The western world is filled with more activists than engineers. You have no idea how many people talk about all the glorious opinions they have yet have NO CLUE how things work. Hell, even after Fukushima, so many idiots followed the idea that the whole ocean is radioactive and dying. Again, they have no clue how nuclear reactors work. But hey, they have opinions!

So other than calling me names, tell me with some kind of proof that the government doesn't force money off your paycheck to then leverage against a central banking scheme. Furthermore, tell me what the difference is between a corporate monopoly vs a government monopoly. Finally, please tell me what economic sustainability is to you. Edit: The fact that you probably took an economics class through a school, funded by government extortion should be proof enough that they are trying to program you to believe the that the Church of the Government is somehow virtuous.

renewables get cheaper when markets are not regulated by the government. Solar and wind energy relies heavily on the fossil fuels. Materials are mined out of the ground, then transported. Once they go across the ocean to a factory probably powered in coal, they come back to consumers. Taxing the oil and gas industry with a carbon tax only drives up the costs and allows monopolies to form faster. Instead, let industries compliment each other, the customer wants the product. I literally put a new roof on my house this year, and wanted to get Solar, but couldn't because it was a $80,000 job. ..its not getting cheaper the more government regulatory bodies open their mouth.
