  3. I work in the oil and gas industry. I have worked here for nearly 15 years. Safety has driven up costs and destroyed our industries ability to function. This is why we lose jobs to Saudi Arabia.

  4. @Em Storm Don't pick sides with your argument. People worship the church of the political party just the same. It's a morality problem, and if you have studied Christianity (as well as any religion) you'd see this exists in every group. This is why it is important to not be part of group think and collectivism, but yet be open to ideas and humble enough to understand bias.

  8. The crazy thing is there is nothing wrong with that, so long as you have a market economy. This way, if you want to be selfish, your customers understand this, and may shop elsewhere. Those that love money and themselves often get left to pasture.

Basic math proves this does not last unless you are selling goods to other nations (and the US isn't, because it regulated itself out of the market place and drove up the costs so high that even a communist country has more economic opportunity) See: China If you go to places like South Korea even, they don't have some government agent forcing bylaws on people. They are not saying "sorry sir, you need another exit within so many feet of this other exit", or "sorry, but you have a carbon tax fee", or "just fill out the forms to get your electrical work signed off". No joke, the reason why Asia is kicking everyones ass is because they don't have government aholes creating new laws that prohibit business. Seriously go there, look at all the mom and pop companies. Way more opportunity.

If you forgot to buy cheap water before going out to a location with no water, how is that society's fault that the vendor is selling water at a marked up price?   You do this every day when you buy something from a convenience store.  Often items are =75% higher.  When you wake up and realize the world doesn't revolve around you, you'll get it.   Voting for socialism will kill opportunity for you to be the water seller. ;)

It actually empowers the potential for bad people to take from good people.   I'm not saying there isn't some nations that survive well under socialism, but generally there is less opportunity, and in the event a bad socialist leaders get in, they have the avenue to extort more from the masses.    Prosperity doesn't come from government rule.

Uh, 'Worth' is determined by mutual agreement between the buyer and seller.   If you don't believe something is worth more than $5, then you don't buy it.  If enough people don't buy it, the seller is forced to lower the price or go out of business.     When the seller goes out of business, in a true free market, you or I come along and fill the void, selling for whatever the market, IE, our customers, determine is fair market value.    Capitalism is fair.  When it became unfair is when the government imposed minimum wage, taxes, regulations, bylaws, and other fancy schemes to take money away from customers and sellers.  This drives up the cost so you don't determine what the worth is..... the government does.  This is why you are already socialist, and your middle class is disappearing.   You don't have Capitalism.

Because of  those regulations, big corporations can sit and do as they please, he's just beating them at their own game, as per the rules set by government.   Scary though, people run to socialism and more government law to fix this, when the fix is to do the opposite.  Stop protecting the established monopolies in favor of open smaller companies that can produce better drugs.     If you watched the Vice news interview with that punk kid, you will realize that he plans on spending money in RnD to make better drugs, unlike all the other big Pharma companies that don't.     Stop protecting the monopolies because you don't understand the bigger picture.  Stop running to government to further kill opportunity.

It is scary how many people don't realize that you don't need to have a central authority over 'the market'.    ...actually, when you do, this is when you have horrible depressions.   The market is a natural fluid thing, right up until you have people trying to control it, such as government taxation and regulation.  Most companies in China spawned on their own because of demand, it wasn't because of greedy corporations moving there.

Let me explain why profit is good, because socialists don't seem to understand: Why you need Profit!   Profit allows a company to  1) give raises to harder/smarter working employees 2) invest in innovation to make things more efficient and easier for workers, if not better technology, RnD to offer a superior product, or safer equipment for employees.  3) invest in bad failed companies that were no good at doing business, and not responsible to the environment.  4) Keep a staff when demand is down, or there is hiccups in the economy.  Or hire more employees when needed to provide more jobs.  5) Offer employees benefit programs like extended health care, RRSP(401K for you Americans) options, and bonuses.  | Profit is also what allowed my wife and I to sponsor two families overseas through a charity of OUR CHOICE.   These families live because we help provide them with education and food.   That said, government kicked the crap out of our industry, and is now imposing a carbon tax... taking money from me, killing jobs, and instead of me willing to help these two families, that money might maybe be going to other UN nations.... maybe going to Dictators or Families?     How would you recommend I tell the two families ,that relied on my profit, that my government just killed my income, and now I can't donate to them anymore?   Seriously.  I would like to know because that is the problem I will have to face this summer.

Free Market Capitalism is me starting a company for free, creating something, and selling to someone else without having to pay someone else that is not involved.  Where is my right to create awesome substance to people that want to buy it?     Don't I have rights as a business provider?      Shame you follow your church of socialism so much.  It isn't a better lifestyle at all.   It leads to more government and eventually dictatorships.

  47. You don't need to be 'ruled' by a pyramid structure with some figurehead at the top. You just need to rule over the mundane things in your life. Simple things like your daily routine take up the most of your life, it will help if you get that in order so the rest falls into place. Drop Ideology (I believe it's the title of his next book)
