Comments by "" (@walperstyle) on "What It Costs To Live In San Francisco | Making It" video.
36 years old here, own a 5 bedroom, and 4 vehicles. One being a race car, the other being an old classic. How did I get here? I didn't study Sociology, and I certainly didn't go begging for the taxpayer to pay for my lifestyle. Getting tired of people living off my labour such as this woman from San Fran. This video is yet another attempt by a media giant to push socialism btw. They are trying to show how she needs society to change to service her idea of a perfect lifestyle. How about this: Produce something of value to the world, and be rewarded. PRO TIP: If you enjoy that something, it won't feel like a job. But don't believe me... I'm just one of many that Atlas Shrug the bullshitters...

Still though, if taxes were lower, and local bylaws would back off. Not to mention archaic building codes went away, you'd see costs come down. That gap would start to go away.

PRO TIP 2: You can make $100k year by learning basic computer programming, being a plumber, carpenter, or simply being the only person in a small town with the skills necessary to sustain that town. IE: Do you own a tire changing machine in a small farming community? Guess what, you are in business and will be able to sustain yourself economically, maybe even make a killing.
15
PRO TIP: Don't study Sociology. Otherwise you will end up a failure like this woman and her family.

Houston is also amazing because it has less taxes. More opportunity for people to uplift themselves out of poverty. Something California can't figure out, and will eventually lead to California's downfall. It's in so much debt.

Everything the government provides first has to be taken. They get paid by extortion (taxes). So, if her kid is the state's responsibility, that means she is advocating for your paycheck to be seized (a certain %) to pay for the existence of her kids. Next she'll try to tell you to have 'compassion'. The problem with society is the 'use of force' to get what you want from others. The Neo Nazi's do it, and so do these professional victim socialists.
6
Sociology teaches you to be an activist instead of produce things the world needs... Hence why she'll play the victim of society to get what she wants. I wonder if she knows that its being paid for by the labour of others. Taxation is Slavery Light.
5
Drop the Union gig and you can make more under contract. That is, if you don't suck at your job.
4
Kids are awesome, but a handful. Prepare for no sleep for 2 years. Either way, home ownership is great, minus the fact I spent about $35,000 on a roof, windows, and landscaping and furnace, But everything should be good for 15-20 years. Also get a minivan... it sucks, but its full of so much room.
4
Don't need to. She already proved she doesn't provide the world with value and wants to change society to revolve around her construct of success. She's even living off of taxpayer funded dollars. So, morally, who do you support. The plumber in Arizona that produces a service for customers, or the Sociology burden to society that wants to take money from your paycheck for her lifestyle? ....gee tough choice.
3
Typical socialist, wants to steal my stuff.
3
Right, but the reasoning behind it is the government cannot provide without taking first. It's not sustainable economics. If you have to take money from people through force, pay yourself a percentage, and then give it to others, it's not charity. The reason why housing gets expensive is because regulations and taxation. Not to mention archaic building codes. all of the above drives up the costs. When the costs go up for building and maintaining, those costs get passed down to the bottom...aka, this lady. The sick cycle is how the politicians feed off these people, "Vote for me and I'll get things for you for free". The poor people that don't understand the economics behind how things work buy into this.

HBO setting the socialist narrative as a means to shame people into thinking only good things can come from government. 'but why does HBO want socialism?', you are going to ask For the same reason in Canada the CBC is protected by the CRTC. They want your tax dollars and they want to hold a monopoly of information. They want to be 'the state media' if they can. They want regulatory bodies to kill any smaller news media so they can stay on top. Say no to net Neutrality. Take back the internet. Say no to media monopolies. Be the news.
2
Government programs, subsidizes or otherwise are wrong! Government monopolies are the worst because they get paid by extortion of labour.
2
Yes. I prefer to receive free education. Not theft education. Especially considering public education pays politicians first, then the bureaucrats (unelected) before that money even makes it to the schools. So, take your communism elsewhere. The internet is here, staring us in the face, stop creating government MONOPOLIES>
2
I laughed at the joke, but I laughed again because I don't know if you got the fact that you just made a joke.
2
A whole lot of unnecessary tickets created by the government (bully) regulatory bodies that drive up your costs to get a simple job that someone anywhere else in the world is already doing. Tell your government 'thanks' for regulating you out of the ability to easily get work. Before you think I'm an internet nobody, I have several BS tickets like 'confined space', 'High angle Rescue', 'H2S', 'WHMIS', 'Ground Disturbance', 'Bear awareness', 'Restricted/Non-Restricted Firearms'.... etc etc etc. This is just government trying to control you with the 'good intentions' of saying "safety". But seriously, advice; Get out of a city. Take charge of a small town where there is nobody as qualified as you are, and own that area. Be the top dog.
2
Telling other people have privilege is kind of a derogatory term. Just because you can't take the opportunities in front of you and turn them into something good, doesn't mean you should take away from others that can.
2
You are not the economic power house of the country. What kind of debt does your state have?
2
It bothers me how you don't have a 'top comment' for what you said. This shows me how communist the US has become.
2
For a moment I thought red = communist. I was so confused reading the comments.
1
What is the debt of the blue states? IE, what is the offset to tax received to debt paid off? (This is where you are going to find out that the Blue states are actually a huge problem) (I also hate the republicans though, but at least they understand sustainable economics doesn't come from the hand of government) ...but go ahead, look for yourself. NOTE: Companies like Boeing that get paid by government doesn't count as a viable source of tax revenue as that is initially where their profit came from. It cancels itself out. So be mindful of that when you do your fact finding mission.

Schiff is a gold fan, I'm a Bitcoin fan, but also have gold, silver, and ammunition. Letting government tell you what is currency and what isn't is part of a bigger problem not discussed here.
1
I agree R2mintus, and also defund the UN, EPA, NATO, and all those other communist ideologies.
1
Yeah, getting people to bully others labour to benefit is great for the people that receive the extortion. Thanks Monica.. .thanks for the heads up. FFS. Tell me something, What do I tell the families and exchange students I sponsor when the government takes more off my paychecks? 'Sorry, My charity isn't valid in the eyes of government?' "I'm going to have to cut you off"? Please tell me. I don't think you understand the difference of charity vs extortion.
1
England is also another socialist utopia. Regulations drive up costs. You'd thrive in the Southern US or parts of Asia.
1
San Fran doesn't have the intelligence to nuke itself. DPRK does however.
1
She's not a liberal, she's a socialist that self identifies as a liberal. She wants your labour to fund her kids future, so better pay more taxes Pacers143... Get back to work!
1
Work in the oil and gas industry. Go away to work for a month, then come back for a month and really enjoy the city. Without subsidized handouts, lulz.
1
communal properties don't work out. Its communist in nature. Vice did a short video on this and only one smelly hippy remained.
1
Not really. The US still has some state autonomy. Meaning, you can move to other states and live the life you want if the local government has too much taxes. ...or, if you like big central government and state incentives, then you can move to cities that have many city jobs. #Detroit Here in Canada, we get bullied by a federal government that sets policy across Canada. Canada is too diverse across our nation to be bullied by a single government and single set of rules. We need that kind of flavor you guys in the US have. Nothing is free, so look for where you can not be punished for being awesome.
1
Promote the good, and promote entrepreneurship. The western world has a growing number of people that seem to think great things come from the government. They don't.
1
I read a lot of books about Hayek and Mises Economics. Sustainability through individual ability and creativity. I'm actually going back to school for Mechanical Engineering, perhaps Aerospace.
1
Instead of being union, contract yourself, work 12 hour days for 5 years straight, and then retire.
1
Detroit still has an unsustainable government nightmare for anyone that wants to start a business. They still have a mentality there that only good things come from government. Not sustainable economics, and that is why millions of people moved away from Detroit.
1
Less tax = more opportunity to create things with the product of your labour.
1
Liberal (actually socialist) policy is what brought in regulations that helped monopolize services, and that is where the price gouging happens. Corporatism sucks because it's protected by government, kill corporatism and bring back capitalism. ...where you and I can start our own car company tomorrow if we feel like it. Without fronting hundreds of millions to start up to appease the government agents and their archaic regulations that do nothing.
1
Not if she studied Sociology, LULZ
1
Ok, AJ, if there isn't a place that sells coffee on your campus there, perhaps its time to read the opportunity bells and OPEN ONE. Seriously, do you want to make serious money or sit around and let others seize opportunity while you wait for government to fix things (It'll never happen). Open up a Coffee Shop now, its not hard.
1
Banning things. ugggghhh...
1
She's borderline communist, so she'd rather you field workers pay for her lifestyle.
1
That is taxpayer money you are advocating be spent? LULZ, they don't have it.
