  1. Fundamentally, American colonists and the founding fathers, rejected old world feudalism, in which the fruits of a man's labor were not his own, but belonged to the Landlord. Most Americans today, have forgotten the reasons for the 1776 rebellion against the British Crown, which are stated in The Declaration of Independence. These reasons are even more relevant today. All free men own their labor, and the fruits therefrom.
