  1. The welfare state produces dependencies and crime. If one defaults to and coddles criminals, doing the right thing will, in time, increasingly be perceived and treated as a liability. Whereas the welfare state GIVES a man a fish, freedom and human dignity call upon a man to learn HOW to fish. Whereas welfare may serve as a bridge, it should never be sanctioned as a permanent condition.
