  1. Caffeine is an alkaline, I've never tested caffeine powder because 1g is enough to kill you but it's chemistry implies it would have a chalky bitter taste. The same applies to gauraine & taurine (sorry I know that's spelled wrong) This is why energy drinks are loaded up with sugars and/or artificial sweeteners. Also fun fact about caffeine it evolved as plant defense, it's a toxin and is generally fatal to non-primate mammals.
