  2. These things sound cool in theory but they won't happen because manufacturers won't enable them without also harvesting obscene amounts of data from us. This is why so many "smart" devices won't work without an active connection to the manufacturer's server. When the manufacturers has an outage or just decides to turn off that server because they don't want to pay money to maintain it. Well then you're locked out of your home/car/office, can't turn the lights on or control the hvac system. These problems aren't theory they've already happened repeatedly.

  28. @carastone3473  if you're referring to climate change that's actually making it less likely I get hit than more likely. Because the gulf is practically boiling (it was 95F) last summer. The majority of storms formed there so already well past me. Ironically we got less than average rain last year so maybe in the future droughts will be a problem but not likely to be a hurricane problem. Those are all going to Florida Texas and the Carolinas

  35. Or building homes from wood & consumable materials. I live in the tropics we build our homes with concrete. I laugh every time the southern USA gets hit by hurricane and all their wooden homes are washed away or flooded and have to be torn down. Then they rebuild everything & it happens again. It's just asinine. I know wild fires are different from hurricanes but it's the same. Everything burns down them rebuild it exactly the same and repeat ad infintum.

  36. I love that they have a steak in a petri dish for the picture. Replacing steak is better for the planet than replacing hamburgers because hamburgers come from dairy cows that no longer provide dairy so replacing burgers with veggie burgers doesnt reduce methane from cattle.
