  2. But there's hikikomori around the world, and people shun them away too and we don't talk about them so aren't we in the west doing the same? Look at the statistics for America for example, half of young people feel isolated frok everybody, that's a scary number, I'm not saying japanese don't need to focus on their problems, but we should also focus on our problems, be hukble and not pretend we don't have those kinds of problems, because we do, and we are looking away, that doesn't make us better, we need to do hetter for our people here in the west too.

I feel you dude, out there, society seems like i has become less patient, less empathic, less chill and more competitive in a bad way, more rude, hopefully societies around the world will go the otherbwayband become more tolerant of different people like us who need to go at a slower pace, more tolerant for those of us who are a little bit more sensitive.

Oddly enough I've learnt this from Japan, there's a lot of pressure but also depends where do you olive, if you live in Tokyo, a highly competitive place yes, people feel cold and rushing through life, but if you see how people live in smaller more rural areas, you'll see nit all japanese people treat ewch other with so kuch pressure, I think the solution is to elicit people to go to more rural, peaceful and natural place within Japan to drop that pressure. Let's remember countries are complex and they're not just one thing or another. They're a mix of everything

  6.  @observer.b_e_l_l_i_s  Yeah, we need more empathy and love and support for those that we see as "different" from us. And that applies in kany ways to many countries and people and contexts.

  7.  @billjones642  Absolitely, Jane Jacobs has a lot of books talking about how we have built cities to be lonely instead of cities that help in building communities. With the internet, the pandemic, the division of people in many areas like politics or racism, gentrification, etc. The high expectations we have for each other to fulfill a specific role etc we have become loners abd we need to change that around the world. So I agree 100% with you

  8. Yeah, I've seen data that young people in the usa feel more and more isolated and that's worrying, we also jeed to do better for our people, to be more tolerant and accepting of others

  9.  @Momo-qo7is  I guess but you could say the same for every other country like USA who had 100k overdose deaths in one year, or here in Mexico with the rampant violence, but the bad things aren't the only things that define a country, or are they? I personally prefer to be aware of the problems of my country and Japan where I plan to live soon and focus on the positives, if not, I'll live with bitterness in my heart forever, I don't want to live like that, I want to live with hooe even if it sounds cheesy.

  10.  @Momo-qo7is  That's the pro of being a foreigner imo, as they don't necesarily see us as part of their society so we have more freedom to be oursleves and they'll be like "oh, they're foreigners guess they just have a different culture", I have seen though that being a salary man in Japan as a foreigner can be harsh as their expectations increase and put the same pressure on us as other japanese people. As an english teacher and translator I feel gratitude to have such jobs where I can be more independent, where I can find more online jobs and not have to work in a company and can enjoy a better work-life balance but yeah, while I have seen imoprovements in their work environments in Japan they still need to work a lot, but again, I want to trust them and believe in them, believe that they'll grow and improve.   13.  @1lovelucas  The abortion thing is worrying though, but yeah, all countries have problens to work through, I don't think that makes ones better than others, just that we are going through a lot of changes, here in Mexico you can imagine how many things we need to change though haha. Though I want to say this, I'm hopeful, that both my people and japanese people will improve (as well as other countries), because I also want to keep seeing my people, my country with love and hope while being aware of our problems, that goes for other countries too like japan. Hopefully I made myself clear, these are complex emotions I have haha, have a nice day!!!

  14. That's curious because I always see them happy we as foreigners learn their langiage, I find hard to believe a society not being happy to see foreigner learn their native language.

  15.  @jappysassy8194  That happens in a lot of countries though, here in Mexico there's people who love to gossip, others are very nosy, I had a classmate here in Mexico that asked me in front of a group in university if I already had a girlfriend and had sex when I am very shy and introverted and didn't have the change to experience that with a woman so it was VEEERY awkward and there were many conversations like that with family, coworkers, classmates etc so yeah, there's a lot of awesome people here too though. I think Japan generally people leave one alone as they tend to be more private so when I live there I hope to find pretty chill people

  16. I do agreez if you see japanese people living in more rural places well, life is kuch better, much slower, without that heavy competition to be the best, you just enjoy more life imo, as you say, maybe japanese people need more nature and to slow down a little bit to chill

  17. Here in Mexico too sadly, a lot of people don't feel they have someone to rely on and feel very isolated which we need to change.
