Reading Tressell's book that was published in 1911, its shocking how much is familiar today in the thoughts and attitudes of the working class xharacters. And there was if I remember correctly, there was a big baking crisis in the 1880s. So... Perhaps not that much has changed.

The comment shows a distinct unfamiliarity with what Gary is proposing. Nobody, including, Gary is proposing taxing people earning £100K from work. It's far more targeted and sophisticated than that. It would pay you to go through Gary's back catalogue to find out what exactly he says, then critique him. Also, you may reconsider the Moron Premium the UK is still paying for the unfunded tax breaks proposed durung Liz Truss' premiership. Everybody with a pension or a mortgage lost out because of that crackpot idea, not only those who would have benefitted. Who has to pay for that borrowing that funded the rescue effort? If the Markets thought that idea was so dangerous that they started to dump Sterling and UK government debt, the idea that cuts aimed primarily at high earners and asset wealthy people's passive incomes might be counterproductive? Even Switzerland has a wealth tax, which is on passive income, not earning from a job. Just a thought.
