Actually that's not quite true. They are allowing immigration but very, very quietly. And also, their housing situation is no better than ours as the lucky homeless are the ones who can afford an Internet cafe booth. The unlucky homeless live in tents. Loss of face or embarrassment is pretty important culturally, and Japan doesn't like discuss it's homelessness and in-work poverty problems either. And so more effort is put into hiding the problem then fixing it. Homes in the major cities are eyewateringly expensive, and as Japan's earthquake regulations are extremely strict, building and buying in cities is a nightmare. Rural areas aren't much better as populations move to the cities for work. So perhaps, we shouldn't lionise Japan, because their economic and demographic problems are the same as ours, and their response to them isn't that different because their politicians are good at socially motivated lying as much as western politicians. Japan isn't that different as you think.

Actually, not true. Japan has Korean and American, as well as a few British migrants living abd working there. It's not easy because of the language and cultural barriers, but Americans have moved there and are working for Japanese corporations, or as self-employed entrepreneurs. A lot of them are here on YouTube. Lol
