  2. Not really. It's arguable that the disruption to England's major exports of Wool to the continent caused by the dissolution of the monasteries put a spanner in the works. I need, the hodge podge way Henry redistributed the lands to his supporters reduced economic output. And arguably, the slow creep towards enclosure of common land was driven by landowners not making enough profits from agriculture. It may have taken generations, but the loss of output caused by the Tudors would bring about further problems, including the Interregnum, because Britain fell behind the Continent in wealth creation. So, no Britain wasn't necessarily better off in the 1500s.

  3. Actually, yes. Doctors, engineers, and the people are coming to the UK as asylum seekers, because of wars we were involved in. In fact, our NHS has been the main beneficiary of skilled labour from Afghanistan. The Taliban made untenable to stay once we checked out. So.... Truth is far stranger than fiction, bro.
