  1. Honestly Professor, after 25 agreed ceasefires being broken by the Russians, nothing but security guarantees will do. Let's be plain - Trump does not care about Ukraine, especially as the baying for his blood amongst many who voted for him a mere 4 months ago is deafening. He has an inflection point in his domestic agenda, which may entail a shutdown of the government, and pushing through a bill making staggering cuts to his welfare bill, that will impact the poor Americans who voted for him. He will be distracted in the weeks running upto Easter, and Ukraine will not be on his radar. As they don't vote in the US election. So it's time for Europe to politely take the burden off Trump's hands. Not by strongarming Ukraine to commit suicide, but delivering on realistic security guarantees for Ukraine.
