  1. Popular cannot be conflated with good. They are not the same thing. One is about fashion and the other is about authenticity and insight into the human condition. Writers are people, and people have their blind spots and failings. No-one is immune, and everyone has their biases, their reality tunnels in which like Plato's cave they fail to see the sunlight. And she's famous. She has a fandom. Fine. But life-changing art? No. You can't learn much about human nature in any real depth from her work. It's escapism. Entertaining, and fun. But not works I would take to a desert island. And not necessarily take advice from.
