  1. How sad to be so cast adrift by fate that one is flummoxed by clothing. When Louis XIV built Versailles, it was seen as a marvel. The King and his Lords were dressed at the height of fashion, and the ladies too. It was a Royal palace, but it had all those fancily dressed people urinating and defecating in the Hallways into Chamber pots and commodes, because both the King and his architect had made no accommodation for toilets. And to boot, Friday saw the King and his heir have an accident on the White House on live TV, egged on by their flunkies. And the smell is just as bad as it was at Versailles, and just as decadent and self-indulgent. Clothes does not make the man - character does. And you can dress up a turd, but you cannot change what it is.
