  1. Clarity is the foundation of discipline. if your MPs don't know what they voting for, it's up the the Whips to make sure they do know what they're doing. Next, withdrawing the Whip is over egging the pudding. Starmer could have again got the Whips on the job, or have ignored it. All withdrawing the Whip has done has drawn more attention to it, and put himself in a position that he has less wriggle room. And 6 months? Looks like Starmer is still carrying that Ming vase. Disputes need to be settled quickly, and not drawn out for months at a time. Idle hands etc? I hope Starmer learns from this misstep. Yes, he's dealing with big egos, but they now got the validation they wanted. Instead of starving them, he's fed them.

  2. No Tory ever rebelled on a vote under Sunak. But being charged for a criminal offence is orders more serious than what these Labour rebels were given 6 months for. It was heavy handed.
