All currencies die. After all when was the last time you used a denari or a babylonian clay tablet? Empires whether political or economic evolve and even devolve? So yes, the Dollar may stop being the dominant currency of a globalised financial system. But so will what will come to replace it, until we evolve to separate money from power. In other words, we and our descendants might not be around when it happens. And humanity may have different concerns than it does at the moment.

Transactions on the street are not the dominant form of money. Cash transactions of USD amount is less than 5% of the total. Over 90% is bank credit aka ledger money aka Eurocurrency, of which the Eurodollar is the largest currency traded. The money on the street is not the heart of the global monetary system. It's the millions and billions moved between banks 24/7, 365 days a year. That system of money creation in USD denominated transactions is at last estimate 1.5 times larger than the domestic USD amount. So when Argentinians use USD currency that is a footnote in monetary history. What really matters are the offshore transactions of banks in USD. And for digital ledger money to replace that is only limited by the technology and the energy demands. So digital currency on the street will grow according to those limitations, but in the heart of the global financial system where there are no technological or energy constraints, digital transactions will come to dominate. The real question is who will control that money creation process? We may not trust governments, but can we trust the private sector any more than we can trust politicians? That question remains to be definitively answered.

That's illogical. History tells you that your fearful fantasy is is just that. Or you'd be using the Roman denari right now, but you're not are you?
