  1. Are you sure you're an accountant? Because nominal amounts disquise the erosion of purchasing power. So valuing returns in a nominal way doesn't reflect purchasing power. As we'll probably see this earnings season.

  2. That's down to you to work out. Especially as if your investing, you should develop strategies to manage risk, because investing involves risk. If you haven't even thought how to manage your risk, investing isn't for you.

  4. Not really. Firstly, the Olympics are being held in France, and nowhere else in the EU. If France had purchased goods and services from elsewhere, the the sellers will benefit. And Paris will benefit from a tourism boost, but elsewhere. Not really. The EU isn't a monolith. It's comprised of 27 countries, and what's good for one may not bring benefits for others. France though will be trying to play its strengths, and the Olympics has been a loss leader for the cities that host it. So, the Olympics is just a temporary uptick. What matters if France can leverage its long term production of energy. France is a net exporter of Electricity, and that will reduce its deficit.
