  5. Copper is going up because firms are trying to stockpile ahead of tariffs being imposed. So the Mar 25 copper futures has gone up, but YTD and beyond, prices are still below trend.

  12. Lol. Not true. America created global markets that are interconnected and global supply chains that are interdependent. Tariffs matter because it will hurt consumers because prices will have to go up, especially for stuff that America cannot replicate. Non discretionary stuff like copper, and other commodities. American consumers will have to pay more, especially as many will not benefit from tax cuts. And Doing without? Well unless the US shrinks in size that's no going to happen. The American economy needs consumption to grow, so tariffs will add to the risks of stagflation.
