  4. No, it's you imagining that you actually understand the argument he's making. You don't. And you don't realise that. Globalisation as a strategy was designed to make the US even more wealthy, but it had consequences. By making everyone dependent on USD for survival to increase its geopolitical and economic leverage on everybody, it also stopped increasing the living standards of ordinary Americans. And it's becoming more obvious to the latter that somehow they losing, whilst the asset wealthy are winning. Tarrifs are supposed to deflect attention from that in the US. They won't.
