  1. This may very well be against the licensing terms but because the VMs are on a separate drive you could probably just reinstall ESXi and then re-import all your VMs.

  2.  @rwbimbie5854  You can use QEMU to run PC software on a Pi. This is probably what you mean you said KVM. It isn't very fast at all, I think I was getting at most Pentium 1 performance when I last tried it, but that was on a Pi 2 or maybe even a Pi 1. On a newer Pi I'd expect Pentium III-like performance at the very most.
