  3.  @WalterKnox  Most of the stuff made back then wasn't made to last, either. There's a lot of survivorship bias. You'd probably need to go back at least to the 70s, maybe as far back as the 50s, to get to where most electronics were made to last.

  4. Now all you need is an original power cable. And regarding dirty electronics, there's a broken old iMac I might take home which was so dirty I didn't realize it had the transparent plug.
