  2. I thought they used OS-level encryption functions like DPAPI. Any program running as the user can access the store but without the Windows login the keys are inaccessible. On Linux there are different keystores but I believe the basic idea is the same.

  3.  @dashcharger24  What do you mean they threw that out? Unless I"m very mistaken, it was integrated in version fifty-something.
