Many charging cords have space for a padlock so it can't be removed from the car. And the charging plug is standardized on EVs, all electric cars* can use the same charging stations. *Different continents have different charge ports but I doubt you drive to different continents very often.

They often do.

@PlaystationMasterPS3 TLDR 16mpg. I was wondering the same thing so I'll run the numbers(even though I'm a year late): Honda EU2200i runs 3.2 hours of rated load on its .95gal tank A level 1 charger draws 80% of that so runtime should be a bit greater. So 1 gallon of gas probably will run the charger for 4 hours. Assuming the car charges at 4mph that means those 4 hours get you 16 miles. 16mpg is far from great but it's on par with large SUVs. As an emergency range extender I'd say it's not too bad. I'll also run the numbers for a large Honda EB10000: 8.19gal gives 5.4 hours of 9kW load That results in 5.4hr * 9kW / 8.19gal = 5.93 kWh/gal Multiply by 4 mi/kWh and you get over 23mpg A common L2 charger will only draw 85% of the generator's capacity but that still gives over 20mpg.

You never need to think about refilling your tank? What sort of vehicle do you have?
