IMO direct linkage of steering and braking is more important. Electronic throttle body cause too much harm when the brakes can overpower the engine and you can kill the ignition power.

@LeifNelandDk In the US for the 1974 model year there actually was an interlock so you couldn't start the car without the front seatbelts buckled. Due to public resistance this rule wasn't continued past then.

I haven't heard of that scheme before. What I've seen before on an old Civic is you can't lock it from the inside if the door is unlatched. This setup is contained entirely in the door so it's likely less failure-prone.
