@LordLootus - A heavy picture frame could hand on a single anchor that has a hook hanging off the anchor creating exactly the force shown in the test. Hanging frames don't pull out from the wall. Also, he does the orthogonal test. One could reasonably interpolate between the parallel and orthogonal tests to estimate 45 degree holding strength. If you need exact measurements so badly, test them yourself! :-) Nobody is stopping you.

YouTube needs an autofilter. If every 3rd person says, "Hey, you should measure shear strength," then anybody who is the immediate second to such a comment should be reported to the authorities as a terrorist against common sense, then drawn and quartered. One more thing - I think you should measure the shear strength of the nails, not the pull resistance!

LOL! Reading out the grams to the hundredths! Who is worried about how many exact grams, never mind hundredths?

Cheap pencil gauges often overshoot the correct number. They will NOT slide back to the correct number unless you push them back. So, I push them back in. If I push too far, it naturally pushes back to the correct setting. Also, pencil gauges even work if they fly apart and you have to reassemble them. The core part is just a spring, so if the spring isn't damaged, the gauge will work again. Finally, whenever I end up in possession of a gauge, I check against the other gauges I have. If they don't pass, I toss them.
