  1. It's sad. Yesterday brought news that the 24-year-old up-and-coming star quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers was killed walking across a highway, hit by a dump truck. It's so easy to get yourself killed on railways and highways, especially for impulsive kids. So, while I don't agree with your parents' choice, but I can understand it. Maybe somebody reading this will think of a similarly isolated person, but think of a safe and reliable way of getting to ensure that isolated person gets to meet other people.

We have people who just loooove the certainty and superiority of rote religions, personality cults, and ideologies, so this is what we get. :-( And if you're anybody following a tradition, religion, or ideology because "it is just right right, and that's the way it is," you are no better than Emeline's sister. Use your brain and your better feelings.
