@rachels209 - The problem with a lot of jobs requiring updating knowledge is that often the old knowledge loses value. At that point, every time a knowledge upgrade is needed, a new worker can come in and compete at bottom-rate wages.

@josh885 - It's not ego. It's power. It's the greed of humanity. Humanity is a lot worse than most people realize. We are NOT a species that cares for itself. Caring usually starts with oneself and the family, and then the tribe. Screw everybody else. This is true around the world. Sure, you HEAR that "we care" and token efforts are made. But look at the world. People dying in misery and yet US citizens complain they want phones in different colors. If humans really cared about each other, homelessness would not exist. It simply would not. The solution is easy to identify. For our feelings and desires, the solution is impossibly difficult to implement. We can't have more of what we want. But that is who our species is. If you want something different, how do you evolve the literal DNA of humans? That takes natural selection - elimination of people or preventing them from breeding. And the people who need to be eliminated are the only cruel ones willing to implement such policies, which they would implement against the good people. So, humans don't evolve. We keep suffering going, endlessly.

@mikelipinski868 - In ALL large corporations run by psychopaths, they want to have corporate policies that are good for the leadership and look good for all employees on paper. So, you treat every employee great, then give the employee classification only to people close to the leadership. Sure, this hollows out corporations, but why would the C-suite people care? They are making money quickly. If the corporation collapses later, the C-suite execs just move on to another company.
