  5.  @shawnkelly695  - With that degree of brake wear, your friend sounds like one of those people who inexplicably uses her brakes for exact speed control, driving down an empty, flat highway yet hitting her brakes every two minutes. Nothing tests my sanity than those drivers!

  7.  @seanriopel3132  - Autonomous vehicles will obey speed limits when they are ridiculous. Driving in the middle of a three-lane highway when it is empty should not require a limit of 65 mph. That limit assumes moderate traffic in all three lanes during a rainy day. A robocar will crawl along, wasting time.

  9.  @bilbobaggins4710  - Bill Gates dropped out, too. So what? I don't want to wait for a Zen presentation. I even speed up videos to 2x speed to get the information faster. When I have the option, I read the text if it is the same and skip the video altogether.

  10. ​ @seanriopel3132  - Please don't compare speeding to tailgating. Tailgating is an aggressive behavior that does nothing but create stress for everyone involved. Speeding, however, can obviously save you critical time. If you're going to miss a critical time and speeding gets you there on time instead, it can matter. For example, getting to a flight, train, ferry, or show on time. Of course, it's hard to save much time by speeding, and leaving earlier is always the smarter, safer, cheaper, and MUCH less stressful solution - for the other drivers you affect as well as yourself.

Because the SI system makes sense by scaling the various units in any dimension by a single factor (10), rather than random factors (12, 3, 5280, 16, 4, 2, etc.). You know it's idiotic to use when the original empire that used that system abandoned it. Just recently, some conservative twit in the UK tried to bring back the Imperial system (just to get the votes of contrarians) and that politician got broadly slapped down by darn near everybody.

  13.  @ToDeoS  - Actually, our brains are more fit to do binary. In general, though, they are fit to work with any system that scales up by a single factor. Trying to scale between random-sized leaps is a mess (12 in =1 foot, 3 ft=1 yard, 1760 yd=1 mile; ? sq ?= 1 acre (see, it's so screwed up most US citizens don't remember this); 8 ounces=1 cup, 2 c=1 pint, 2 pt=1 quart, 4 qt=1 gallon). Wth? The irony is that the countries that have the power to set the rules lack the ability to change them! They develop very entrenched rules which are hard to change since too many people protest the costs of change. Look at standard household voltage. The US should have switched to 240V long ago. We won't because we''re too dominant. Nobody can force us to do it. No business or consumer wants to be the one that pays the upfront cost of change.
