When the Treasurer of the Donor's Capital Fund speaks about science, you know you'll be getting an accurate and unbiased opinion - cough, cough - unaffected by power and money - cough, cough!
9
Where does all the coal and gasoline profit go now? Oh, right. To the people who spend untold fortunes deceiving people like you. You know what they say when you support these poor billionaires and believe their lies. They say, "Bless your heart." They mean that in a secretly Southern way, though on the surface they are thankful for your money.
5
Says the person who never tried to get a grant. The government doesn't want to give money to ANYBODY except the wealthy lobbyists, and the Fossil Fuel Liars are some of the biggest lobbyists in the nation. It's laughable you think some middle-class scientist has more pull than the Koch Brothers.
4
Tell that to the people who are watching the Greenland glaciers melt at record pace.
4
@Ranger1PresentsVirtualRealms - Wait, you think land ice is INCREASING in Greenland? What drugs are you on? Melt rates are occurring at unseen levels!
4
DeSantis is a perfect example of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss". New blood means nothing when the leader is a self-impressed phony.
3
This guy is an Elmer Gantry of the right. His fans don't even realize it. That is not surprising, as incompetence often fails to recognize itself due to its own nature.
3
Translation": I am ignorant but I think I know more than educated, smart people because I am exhibiting false humility by admitting I am not a scientist. That's not humility, it's arrogance. You don't know even know where to start thinking and listening. Making things up is useless.
3
Why should we have state boundaries for federal office? It makes no sense from a fundamental design perspective. Our current system puts state interests above the country. How about representing the plurality effectively with a nationally-elected Congress?
2
Why don't you put up the forecast validation statistics for your local weather forecasts for the last 1000 consecutive forecasts? Oh, you don't have that data? Oh, you mean you must make up sh1t? Oh, you expect people to believe you over educated, intelligent people who love to learn and pursue truth for a living? Got it.
2
Read Ryan's reply. And again.
2
@blhbsit1251 - Fires happen, so why do anything? Crime happens, so why prevent it or lock up criminals? Meh, who cares? Let's all die now. Yea, your attitude is real winning.
2
The relevance and insight to be gained from your comment is lost on the bleating herd of deniers. To hear them, a short-term wave of corruption among scientists and liberals is the reason that global warming is a concern, not the well-established sciences of spectroscopy or atmospheric physics.
2
The polls of climate scientists show they believe mankind is CAUSING climate change. Until you can construct a steady-state energy flow diagram describing how Earth's temperature is steady but we keep increasing CO2, don't kid yourself into thinking ACGW does not exist. CO2 is a molecule that absorbs and emits infrared radiation in the 8-12 micron band much more efficiently than the molecular oxygen and nitrogen that make up most of our atmosphere. That's a fundamental physical fact your fear and politics can't change. That fact is what leads to increasing surface temperatures. You can't get around it. The only question is how much temperature change and how quickly.
2
@jaycampbell6402 - The issue was decided when CO2 absorption and emission spectra were measured along with O2 and N2. That was many decades ago. Right then it was realized CO2 would warm Earth's atmosphere if added to it.
2
@MW-gh1mo - "Nothing we can we do about it." "Thoughts and prayers." Ah, the inactivity of the emotionally immobilized is so inspiring, is it not? Mankind would be in the Stone Age and killing each other for a grain of rice if these hopeless people determined our mutual advancement.
2
@xxxmikeyjock - You have a very confused mind. Earth's average surface temperature is not California's hydrological activity. They are separate things.
2
@BrianCinSpruceGrove - They did ask them directly. Further, any real scientist who understands spectroscopy would know ACGW is real even without a complex model. It's a matter of any system at constant temperature will have energy in = energy out. The Sun heats Earth, Earth radiates the same amount of heat to space via IR. When Earth emits less IR, the system heats up. Guess what? Every CO2 molecule added to the atmosphere immediately reduces the outgoing IR and increases the amount of IR absorbed by Earth's surface. The result is an increase in surface temperature. Add enough CO2 and the increase becomes noticable. Add more and and the temperature increase affects sea level and crop production. Those things affect humans. Period. You don't need a climate model for that, or some dumb-ass conspiracy theory about how middle-income scientists are taking over the government while the powerless CEOs of Koch Industries and Exxon are forced to standby and pay more taxes. Those poor helpless people. If only they had countless payoffs to create a disinformation campaign and payoff the GOP just like the scientists have, but those CEOs are poor and the scientists have so much money. If only it were not so. Those poor Koch Brothers, trying to spread truth and watching their noble assets grow less quickly while they try to save humanity with the truth, all while Fox tries to help the Kochs but keeps failing to get liberals to understand the megarich people are not lying, they are honest and would NEVER lie to make more money.
2
@benighted09 - Idiots don't know they are idiots. That's how incompetence works. They wouldn't know rotational band absorption spectra from the chancres on their dix.
2
Never trust a fool who calls herself "bibleprophecy1st".
1
Water vapor is transparent, you idiot. It does not shade the Earth or anything else. Further, if you knew what Runaway Greenhouse Effect is, you wouldn't argue that H20 is a "thermostat". Also, H2O can act like a heater as well a cooler, and quantifying that is difficult (why modelling expertise is required).
1
@Gww-1 - Freedom for everyone is paid for with money. Freedom for the privileged only requires money.
1
A paid lawyer arguing against scientists who get paid 1/10 of what he gets paid? Yeah, who would imagine a search algorithm for ACGW didn't look up "corruption" instead? It's unimaginable.
1
@Luckma1 - Plenty of scientists go off the rails as they get older. It's a sad thing to see.
1
DeSantis is a bully and would be a dictator if he had is way.
1
@alisonberry4769 - Yes, but the overall ice mass has decreased. Also, I note how you began to question the left-wing politics you were encountering and seemed to think the wise response would be to go right. Why choose a political "side" when you can just choose to seek all truth, both inner and outer - including acceptance of full and partial ignorance and topics? Then figure out how to act or react to the truths based on an honest assessment of the totality of your values? I think if most people did that, they most certainly would be concerned, even anxious, about ANY alteration of atmospheric CO2 content, particularly given how non-linear our earth system might respond to even the slightest of disturbances. Climate has been steady for a long time. Why screw it up?
1
Who cares about Al Gore? He is not the Earth you live in.
1
Bestoink Dooley - Uncle Fester is asking losers to let the problem fester while the Liar-for-Hire Heritage scum make their money pushing the lies of the people who make the REAL money from CO2 emissions. How much does the world spend on ACGW research? How much NET profit do the fossil fuel companies generate? Follow the money? You bet! That money drives the lives behind the denying. The bottom-dwellers are too stupid to know their ideology was paid for, but the greedy rich could care less. They make their money while losers spend hours arguing about how to make the rich even richer.
1
@grogershoward2376 - The physics behind Milankovitch cycles affect every planet in orbit around a star. That doesn't mean they all see the same fluctuating temperature patterns. Those patterns depend on the atmosphere of the planet. Humans are changing the atmosphere relatively rapidly. No Milankovitch cycle will undo that.
1
@m4rvinmartian - The number of factors is not as important as the scale and immediacy. ACGW has the potential for a significant scale (e.g., affects livable shorelines and crops) and the time scale is rather short (within lifetimes).
1
@ludwigvanel9192 - Your blabbering doesn't even make sense. CO2 is not a sentient being with either "competence" or "in-". Water does not "trap" "solar heat". You are mangling ideas so badly you should be a butcher by profession!
1
@NolanTyrrell - You are pissing into the hurricane winds of ignorance and arrogance. I find myself doing it as well. Surely not all humans so contemptibly smug in their angry and righteous pride of ignorance? Yet they are.
1
@arachnipope - Who are you to decide ANYBODY hates the nuclear reactions in the sun, as long as they are there and not just down the road in a reactor that's melting down?
1
You want facts? Try starting with your schizophrenia.
1
Since when should a 200-year climate model take into account a ~26,000 year cycle? Idiot! That won't affect the weather for another 10 millenia!
1
A dream for Democrats. Go ahead and run him. Even Biden could beat him. Ronnie DeTantrum is a whine child unfit to govern.
1
Well, when 300 million starving refugees start migrating around the planet, let's see what happens to the taxes of today's children when they are fifty. Or don't you give a f*ck about people in this country?
1
@blhbsit1251 - You mean like all the money going to the Kochs, who have provably setup disinformation campaigns against awareness of ACGW!
1
Reagan made a deal with the Ayatollah for Iran to hold onto the hostages longer so Carter would look bad. What an absolutely horrible thing to do to hostages and this country. Reagan only cared about his own kind, not everybody. His second term he was an Alzheimer's patient. Years later, his staff finally acknowledged that they had covered up for it years (which proves THEIR lack of patriotism and putting politics over country). But people like you won't change. He could have murdered ten children and you would excuse it. As for JFK, well he was before my time and judging him retrospectively just isn't the same.
1
@Gww-1 - DeSantis has sunk even lower, to the level of suggesting building a prison near Disneyworld, which is an economic jewel for Florida. DeSantis is petty, over-sensitive, and power-hungry to the point of being potentially dangerous. He's got Trump's value but a smart brain.
1
You will never be in charge until you have b*lls to assume control of the vast wealth (and thus power) that is controlled by the wealthiest among us. If you buy into the nonsense that they earned it and you and most others don't deserve, well you don't deserve it. Nor do you deserve good government, because the wealthy people will always take the reins of power until the majority of people use THEIR Constitutional to level things out.
1
The GOP stopped having a set a long time ago. That is exactly WHY they succeeded for decades. They followed money and power, even if it meant lacking moral fiber, and it worked wonderfully for them. Expecting them to change now is silly. It is far too late.
1
For all your blather, you still didn't explain how increasing CO2 in the atmosphere won't increase surface temperatures despite the FACT that CO2 emits infrared radiation to the surface just like a glowing hot space heater. The only difference is you can't see the tiny molecules like you can see a big space heater with glowing how metal in it.
1
DeSantis is a selfish phony. Freedom for me and not for thee. That is his real motto. He is an intelligent man (opposite of Trump) but he is also a smarmy tool.
1
YouTube content is driven by the people like you and me. If you don't like it, don't watch it. LIke this crappy video. I'm laughing at the joke of an "analysis" this fool is doing. He has said NOTHING to contradict the fundamental science that the Earth WILL warm due to man-made CO2. You would need a "Hand of God" to interfere with that to stop it. So, if we are warming the planet, why not stop? Well, ecologists and agronomists and security experts have expressed sound reasons to avoid warming. You ignore them at serious peril for the people of 100 years from now.
1
Wow, you are big on lying. DId you make all of that up on your own, or just repeat the yammerings of others?
1
@billolsen4360 - You don't think. You fear. Good for you. When you understand a "steady-state energy budget" and when you understand the "atmospheric window", you will have a starting place. You're not even there, and you think it's a matter of thinking. It's not thinking. It's choosing fear over an open mind and actually bothering to learn. If you won't learn, trust the experts in the field. If you won't trust experts in the field, look in the mirror and ask how you became an expert at judging expertise.
1
Yes, do it!
1
Have you ever been in the field to measure the IR or solar irradiance under a stratus deck? Have you ever measured the CO2 levels in tephra or directly in a volcanic plume? Have you ever had to encode use of multi-species (gas species) spectra into an N-dimensional model and had to decide which aspects to parameterize and which to calculate? No? Then who the f*ck are you to judge the competence of people with 150 IQs and years and years of expertise? Oh, right. You're a schmuck on YouTube who likes judging people. Good for you. That doesn't mean the climate scientists of the world are wrong or doing a poor job.
1
That has nothing to do with the fact ACGW is real. BTW, I think the banking crowd is the one making the arguments for taxes, not the fossil fuel people.
