@Brwigames "I'm really smart because I watch the internet, and that is real life." Talking about the ignorance of humans is a pretty old topic, yeah?
20
Good job.. how far did you get in that class? What is your favorite color crayon?
13
@ff7522 "They"? The definition of a woman didn't change. Still exactly how we all learned it. You just like to be part of a Matt Walsh Echo... Like at a stadium doing the wave.
13
@Brwigames I'm pretty sure if you are on either side of the sillly "woke vs not woke" West Side Story act you are probably not doing ok on a personal level lol
7
@Brwigames These conversations are not proof that anyone of us is above the idiocracy.
4
@bobdole3804 "Let them eat cake"... Who is "they"?
3
@nickmagrick7702 Balance is important... skepticism keeps us from radicalization... selfishness leads to radicalization... the balance isn't selflessness.. it's sustainability. We do not live in a vacuum of dreams.
3
What? Where is your dispute in science? God? What does that have to do with science? Are you just a random right wing fortune cookie?
3
@dustinwashburn1283 The scientific process is about demonstration and predictability. It's mapped out pretty well and if any of you have a challenge in science you are welcome to present your position.
3
@ajkulac9895 Guys.. we used to smoke on airplanes.. you will be fine lol
2
@jamesholland8057 I agree that it is our best source for predictive models of fact. Intellectualism means more than that though. All of the fields of education and philosophy are connected. We just only have so much time to learn really. 9/5 grind ya know?
2
@jamesholland8057 Yep.. all connected. Even the language we are using to say it.
2
@iBloodxHunter Oh, I can read... I just doubt that this conversation has anything to do with science. It's political science maybe lol
2
@spartanhawk7637 Cool story, bro... "You're proving my point" is an obnoxious statement.
2
That sounds like a cognitive distortion as a "woke" vs "not woke" dynamic is part of anti-intellectualism.
1
I blame theocratic nationalists
1
@jeremiahjohnson2784 They have always been an issue... it's not my description. The words are what they are as it is lol
1
True, yet the debates happening in the USA only recycle as the "critical" nature of what is being debated is left to the same arguments. On repeat. Neither side even bothering to alter the argument to conflicting information. There is a middle ground but people want to fight. It's in our blood.
1
@Tiasung "One side" or all sides? Otherwise, I agree with everything but your strange "speak no evil" approach to humans.. very violent primates.
1
@Michael-ex8lk The right compromises or relentlessly trolls our country whenever they lose?
1
@Michael-ex8lk Let me make this simple: The right wing is an authoritarian, dystopia fever dream thrust unto the world for no other reason than egocentric self absorption.
1
Femtoisbackandbetter Change my diaper
1
@V0ltron Cool... What is a demagogue?
1
@McKae00 You mean the concept of transgender lives rent free in your head?
1
@McKae00 Why is this conversation your go to for "intellectualism?" Sounds like this is the Cleetus and Skeeter show.
1
@McKae00 "I will pray for you to assert my dominance"
1
@Bizmark7 Yeah, it's all pretty much just eye candy lol
1
@GeninGeo You probably think reality TV is reality....
1
@GeninGeo How hard is it to understand what a dog and pony show is?
1
@GeninGeo Or you are playing semantics with the word reality to take my statement out of context? The sun heating the planet is reality... are hallucinations reality in your little thought experiment? It comes from the brain and we know that is real.
1
@GeninGeo Technically we could all be a brain in a vat experiencing a simulated reality... is that still real because it's real to us?
1
@perfectenrager It doesn't matter if you are right? Right about what? A talking point? Not how that works bud.
1
@GeninGeo You are dancing around the context of my statement using a thought experiment.. saying something is real doesn't make it real. Your criteria seems a bit shay here.
1
@skybox4080 That is 90% of the people that pipe up about any topic in politics or otherwise.. it's like genre elitism that can't even scratch the surface.. it's adorable.
1
@skybox4080 So at what point did you see this happen? I have seen so many people try to make claims but none of us here should be expected to be a fly on the wall unless we can see the bigger picture... The issue is, I feel like you can say that about anything. Like flat Earthers can say "Well, that is what the overlords made you think".. What overlords? We have documentation and you can even pay millions of dollars to see it for yourself.. this earth got curves lol
1
@skybox4080 My premise: There is not a conspiracy of any kind that you will alter in any way.. More than likely (As in the case of anti vaxxers).. they are applying a wishful thinking ploy while dying on a silly hill.
1
@nickmagrick7702 Be wisely selfish.. aka skepticism. The issue is, rarely is it applied to where it really matters.. oneself. We cannot change the world and we shouldn't even want it to change.. adversity is the challenge. Not your aptitude.. although that certainly helps get you around the molehills so they do not become mountains... or maybe you like mountains? See, how it's just a way to get somewhere?
1
@skybox4080 Interesting. I would need to watch that one to get back to you. Rarely will I tell anyone to rely on the consensus.. yet science is a field that requires a lot of crawling before we run and jump into any of it. I am not saying you are wrong, I am just having a hard time understanding the language here. I understand science as a challenge to anyone.. if you can upend the current prevailing model.. that is very much welcome.
1
@DemocracyOfficer2485 Yes... kind of like people who vote for economical reasons.. they do not even know what the word economics means in most cases.
1
I.I.I....IoI....I.I.I Look vinegar, I ran out of ranch dressing for your word salad (they are rubber, you are glue) mic drop... you their handy little sycophant?
1
@dustinwashburn1283 That is not how the scientific process works. Theocracy is faith based where in science we can actually demonstrate it to the point of creating the very device to are using to communicate this to me with. Belief in the supernatural might be an inspiration but it is hardly a serious inquiry into the truth of the world we live in. It's pretty much just a bunch of mythological deities that still hold a grip on our fear of mortality.
1
@dustinwashburn1283 ... for example? Peer review is part of the process. Fringe science is a thing though lol
1
Are you sure you didn't make a big stink during a global health crisis and are still in damage control mode?
1
@robinheinemann1740 Guys... you don't care about science... you don't even know what it is.
1
@dustinwashburn1283 Well, science isn't a gotcha moment. It is something we can alter if we actually have new data.
1
@dustinwashburn1283 For example? During the pandemic, everyone became a microbiology expert overnight, so what are we talking about here?
