To say the civil war was fought over slavery is a misnomer. Slavery was just the excuse the South used to fight their neighbors over a change in industrialism.

@antoinettewagner8308 Probably because we are living under the same thumb of the same rhetoric. Our country is extremely slow to learn from itself and change accordingly. I blame people who fear change and play "gatekeeper" to bad ideas. I don't mean to block them... to protect them.

@burnedagain6187 Apparently we cannot rely on the benevolence of our employers to make an honest living. Unions would be unnecessary if employers could unclutch their purse strings. No matter how bad you think unions are they are not worse than employers or CEO's.

@burnedagain6187 There are 2 ways to run a business.. one where you treat your employees well and one where you don't deserve a business. Think of a Union as the health inspector. You need to FO to FO to be upset with the health department.

@AlbertoHernandez-up3cs You are isolating one concept and using it as a presupposition. If Texas hadn't tried to succeed there would have been no civil war.. At least not the one from our history. We had just won all that land from Mexico and The State of Texas was trying to take it away from the feds. They may as well have been Mexico starting up another conflict. Slavery was an obligatory side note and a focus of whitewashed history (Gives you a good feeling in your tummy). The North were not benevolent nor did they really care about slavery. They just didn't need it anymore as they were quicker to modernize than the South.

@voixdelaraison593 It wasn't the cause though. The catalyst was Texas trying to steal land that the feds won in the Spanish-American war. Texas wanted its cake and eat it too... America does not give up land.

@deaddudegaming So why would Federal give the right to the State to steal land from Federal? If Texas becomes its own sovereign entity would it still need help from Biden? Or would they go to war with Mexico all on their own? Don't they pine for federal protection daily? Would you go to war over that or did you learn from Texas being a comic book villain?

The North had modernized with the industrial revolution. They had streamlined production to help pay for employment. A happy worker is the best worker.

Guys.. learn about how we got Texas from Mexico. Texas wanted to succeed while still being protected by the Federal Government. They wanted their cake and eat it too. Lincoln said "Not on my watch" as we didn't fight the Spanish American war so a group of hooligans could claim it as their own.
