But when you can strike its different...

@seankarl8414 Yeah Dude...If not, grapplers would win every single UFC bout and even the best often get knocked out, in fact it's more often the result than submission.

@kauri8981 Yes we are talking about MMA fighters...We're talking about Jiu Jitsu vs someone that can strike. To say that it's 'easy' to take someone to the ground and end it with BJJ is stupid. I said it before and I'll say it again, the majority of Victories are by knock-out. If what you say is true, Jiu Jitsu would be winning all day, every day. Ev3n when a submission is the reason for the win, it was often attained with a lot of striking inbetween anyway. BJJ is a fun sport and some ways useful on the ground in reality, but it is also cultish and a little overrated.

@dariusgoatland10 Yes they're all trained in it to some extent, but it doesn't mean they use it 90% of the time. As I keep saying, bottom line is striking is what wins fights most of the time. Roy Nelson spent half his career throwing the most predictable right hand in the sport and he STILL landed it countless times, ending fights, including grapplers. Because they know their grappling, they know how to avoid takedowns most of the time, and will still, and clearly prefer to end the bout with a solid KO. Even when grapplers get a man down, they still switch to striking to end the fight. They don't continue with the effort of twisting and choking when they can simply pound a face in.

@dariusgoatland10 Waste time? Ngannou is a dominant striker with grappling basics, by no means a Blackbelt. You're using a handful of examples but ignoring the overall verdict. Saying Roy Nelson is a black belt in BJJ only enforces my point, he still prioritised striking and won the overwhelming majority of his fights with it, he wasn't interested in the ground. A good kickboxer can master the basics in avoiding a takedown without even getting close to being a black belt, yet the BJJ blackbelt will be useless without the far more complex 'basics' of mastering the ability to be a good striking defender. Striking wins fights the most, and I'll keep driving that home backed by the sheer evidence of it.

@4purs I do take those into account, anybody regardless of grappling or not, can perform a feint. By definition it's a Boxing strategy too. Ground and pounds are also the KO that follows a knock down by strike and not so much a takedown. Ngannou is often an example of that.

@jerryh2954 Never said 'untrained' bigger fighter...In fact, my last post said the opposite. The whole thread I clearly argue that BJJ isn't the be all and end all.

I like how Joe said he wants to decide....Provided they're similar to his size.

@dariusgoatland10 You're making my case for me again...Stipe grapples Ngannou and wins. Ngannou leaves and does a crash course in grappling defense, returns and swiftly knocks him out. You keep referring to UFC 1-6 to push your grappling point of view, where as I can use the entire history of this combat and time and time again it's win by KO overwhelmingly. BJJ are often as stubborn as the Religious cultists because it essentially is a cult. Rolles Gracie didn't fare so well against a muscle bound striker either.

@twuuwttwu Good strikers don't get glued together, and if they do, they know the same handful of moves and defenses...

@Drod11z I'll do 1 better... A professional Gracie Jiu Jitsu Black Belt VS someone who isn't even recognised as a Boxer let alone a fighter. https://youtu.be/poiS5RsTObQ?si=eor1F-r93a8m0hFJ

@andresmiguel2573 Is that why most fights are won by knock-out? If your nonsense were true, grapples would be winning almost immediately every time. Even when a grappler gets the upper hand, they ultimately opt for striking to end it. Try again
1
@andresmiguel2573 You just made my point for me... That being, as soon as someone knows some basic defense against grappling it's hardly a force to be reckoned with. Ngannou did just that, not to mention all those wins by KO that everyone still opts for because fights don't start on the ground and even when they end up there, are often back to standing. But yes, keep pushing what's clearly bullshit 🤣🤣🤣
1
@andresmiguel2573 That's where you seem to misunderstand. You have to get to my arm first, street or otherwise. If I know how to prevent you doing that, (it isn't difficult either) you'll cop an elbow to the nose before you can comfortably do anything. If you're trying to tell me grappling wins over an untrained, unsuspecting fighter period, of course, as does any fight experience for the most part.

@wtuatary Most victories are KO...Even wrestlers opt for a KO given the option. Especially the Heavyweight division. Show me Ngannou and his submission highlight reel. That's not delusional, that's a fact. If your ridiculous claim that striking is 'significantly' worse, Wrestlers and Jiu Jitsu pros would be winning with that strategy alone very quickly and all the time. Nothing could be further from the truth.
1
@wtuatary Now you just sound stupid. A KO is a KO. Again, please post the link of Ngannou amd his submission highlight reel and ground game. Anderson Silva, McGregor, et al are smaller versions of the same. You've been brainwashed by a BJJ fad.
1
@EjCavi The overall result in the UFC across all weight divisions is overwhelmingly KO of some form. You've found a puny lightweight who can't rely on a KO as an example. Laughable
1
@majorleagueminuteman1344 The first time I fought a 'grappler' where striking was permitted, it was over in about 40 seconds. He went for a take down and I drove a knee straight into his face. Much like the countless, failed takedowns you've seen on the highest levels. Don't be stupid and ignorant to the reality.
1
@majorleagueminuteman1344 Alright...I didn't. Jiu Jitsu reigns supreme everywhere except the UFC and every other tournament where KO's overwhelm submissions. Ngannou the King grappler 🤣
