  1. Stray animals are common all around Turkey simply because it is forbidden to kill stray animals unless they are aggressive and attacking people. While there is no where enough room in shelters so official government policy is just neutering them and releasing them back to streets. Even then there aren't enough shelters nor funds both private and government to fully complete neutering so stray animal population has been increasing especially cats. In every few years the argument happening if we should kill them like western countries doing but we always decide against it. They live or they die it is in God's hand we won't kill them only because nobody adopts them.. The historically correct one is the Roman empire, eastern Roman empire didn't even call itself eastern rather always considered itself as the Roman empire like it never collapsed or split. Byzantine name got fabricated 200 years after the fall of Constantinople by a German historian. It got stuck and used by other historians, even in Turkish we call them Bizans while we should know the most such a name never existed lol.
