The answer is very simple, if tanks are useless or ''death traps'' why exactly both russia and Ukraine deploying more and more of them to front lines? Why Ukraine is asking tanks from every country on Earth?? It is because tanks might get destroyed but it is EXACTLY their job taking heavy fire away from softer targets like APCs, trucks etc! And there are thousands of light vehicles in Ukraine fighting in front lines if any side didn't have tanks they would loose MANY TIMES more soldiers. Tank's job is resisting heavy fire as much as possible without risking too many soldiers and deliver a heavy damage in any opportunity not winning wars. It was a brief moment during WW2 that tanks could deliver battle winning punch but never again, it has been just a delusion for decades but people still couldn't update themselves somehow. To be honest it is also effected by propaganda of governments as national MBTs are always showcased like wonder weapons while they aren't at all, even US lost DOZENS of Abrams against weakly armed militants but when western media didn't share their footage a lot for obvious reasons it is somewhat lost knowledge. Just check how many Abrams were damaged or destroyed in Iraq alone you would loose your mind...
