  1. During that time there was a general belief as Turks were bluffing and couldn't launch an operation while US and NATO were against it. There were only two governments actively warning, obviously Turkish government and British government. Turkish PM even personally went to UK and offered them a joint operation to remove EOKA terrorists from power. But they refused as it might had caused another Greek war against British forces on the island. Turkish PM called back home and gave the password for operation to begin without even waiting to return. I really doubt Lebanon actually offered such a thing as Turkey would certainly consider it as an act of war and even launch airstrikes against their airfields. Turkish army had this 'zero tolerance' mindset back then too and would retaliate for any direct involvement regardless which country it was. This was also why Greek forces destroyed their own planes so their involvement couldn't be noticed. I understand some people might find it too harsh but Turkish government warned literally everybody in UN then in NATO then went to UK and offered a joint operation plan. Not like they chose war instantly but all they could get was 'bla bla bla' while an extremist organization seized the government and Turkish Cypriots were actively targeted! After it became a war everything was on table, if US directly involved Turkish army would even target US forces. That's why US personals in Turkey like İncirlik base began wearing body armors and trying to fortify their barracks by blocking windows and doors..

  4.  @apokos8871  I see you don't know the difference between a resolution and a report even if you brag about international laws so much? And we see the reason why because you literally copy-paste from BSpedia, lmao! But no worries i will explain your mistakes, first of all never ever use BSpedia as a source because those articles are edited by random people without any reliability. I didn't quote the statement of UN spokesman from an unreliable third source rather UN themselves.. Secondly you gotta learn the difference between a report and a resolution, reports are written by a handful people and they might project their political views in them as we see in this example. While resolutions are adopted by a majority vote and they become official statements of UN on the subject issues. It is true there was such a report but UN never ever adopted it as a resolution and even UN spokesman stated this crystal clear. But you might continue believing BSpedia that a random person edited somehow.. Then comes the fact in my original message i said "Then secondly quote a single UN resolution condemning Turkish operation, a single one!" which is obviously about Turkish intervention on Cyprus. But you are trying to bring a subject completely irrelevant to my message. In a desperate attempt to prove me wrong but even your this irrelevant claim is entirely wrong. I guess you couldn't find anything at all as i stated in my message. You people might act like Turkey is violating international laws as much as you wish but the truth is there, that Turkey is one of countries which respects international laws the most. Keep digging and digging perhaps you would find another 'proof' :)

  9. There is a mistake in 6:18, this is 12 miles territorial water map. While both Turkey and Greece have 6 miles territorial waters so it is not correct. Greece is trying to increase their waters but we consider it as a declaration war so good luck to them. However they increased their airspace to 12 miles and became only country on Earth which has longer airspace than their borders or territorial waters. But ofc we completely refuse this as well and act like Greek airspace is still 6 miles. This is the main reason why there are so many 'Turkish violations of Greek airspace' as we enter 6-12 miles difference every single day multiple times. Honestly airspace being larger than territorial waters is a clear violation of international laws but who cares right? Nor Greece has any right to increase their territorial waters and block our water ways including a dozen of our ports! If we signed UNCLOS they could but we didn't same US etc. Therefore previous UN convention of sea laws is binding between Greece and Turkey not UNCLOS and it doesn't allow such a right at all. We can even claim half of Aegean as our EEZ while leaving only 12 nmiles for Greek islands entirely according to that previous UN convention. But it doesn't worth completely destroying our relations with our neighbor so we don't do it. There is absolutely nothing found yet in disputed EEZ so claims we want more oil, gas etc is just laughable at best and wicked propaganda at worst. We will just not allow our water ways to be blocked, no country in our shoes would allow it. For example Russian access to international waters from St. Petersburg should be blocked as well if all countries had 12 miles territorial waters. Go check it out if those countries have 12 miles or reduced length to leave an international corridor for Russia!! We just want what it is right not more or less, leave corridors for us then declare 12 miles, declare 12 miles only in Greek half of Aegean so it wouldn't block us. All is fine by us but not 6:18, as soon as it was declared missiles would start flying and i wish i was kidding..

  11.  @apokos8871  Again more mistakes, first of all not all post-secondary teachers are called professors at least in UK, Turkey and most of world. There is no academic rank standards so in your country perhaps you are calling all PS teachers professors who knows, but we don't. Then comes 'not all professors are working in universities' nonsense which is entirely false in everywhere on Earth! Professor is an academic RANK and you CAN NOT be a professor unless you are working in an university. Perhaps you are confusing it with phD and Doctor title. phD is not an academic rank rather an academic achievement and you can use Doctor title while working in different sectors. You don't know academic standards change from country to country, you don't know professor is an academic rank. I would still put all my money to that you never saw inside of an university. By the way did you notice how i wrote 'uni'? That's side affect of university education that we were shortening it as uni, uni constantly so i unconsciously wrote uni. A person who actually spent 4-5 years in an university wouldn't say a total nonsense as 'university professors', LMAO! Yep, i will continue using it because i'm really laughing here at your ridiculous claims. Since your first message you have been fabricating things constantly from UN resolutions and BSpedia is reliable to university education. And even if you are proven to be wrong many times you are still claiming you are right which is really funny, you are a special kind my friend))

  15.  @jimanast3593  During 3 AM i remembered Greek airspace wrongly as 12 miles not 10 miles, wuhuuuu it proves i'm wrong, right? Wrong! In fact none of you people refuse Greece is the only country on Earth with longer airspace than their territorial waters or borders which is a clear violation of international laws. And your claim it was mutually increased and accepted by Turkey is completely false. Greece increased its airspace from 3 miles to 10 miles with the 1931 Presidential decree, Turkey wasn't a part of this decision nor ever accepted it. It has absolutely nothing to do with agreements Turkey and Greece signed so only God knows where you could learn that. Previous sea law convention called the 1958 Convention on the Territorial Sea is binding between Greece and Turkey and it gives less rights to islands. According to it Turkey can indeed claim an EEZ as far as median line between mainland Greece and Turkey while completely ignoring islands expect leaving them 12nm EEZ alone. Go read some unbiased articles if you still have doubts, there are American, British etc articles very clearly stating Turkey can do that. But as i said in my original message Turkey doesn't have such an intention as it doesn't worth severely damaging relations with our neighbor. There is nothing in Aegean it is heavy earthquake zone, stop daydreaming as 'rich natural resources' which aren't found yet and believing cheap propaganda. There are conditions for innocent passage, for example Greece can stop and inspect every single one of our ships while delaying them for days if not weeks. Can also refuse passage of military ships and literally block our access to international waters. You are claiming Turkey is trying strengthen its position while care to explain what exactly Greece will gain from increasing its territorial waters, huh?? As i said earlier no country on Earth would accept this and there are many examples proving it. Like how countries have reduced territorial waters in Baltic sea to leave Russia an international corridor. How Finnish islands next to Sweden have reduced territorial waters and EEZ, how English islands next to France have reduced territorial waters and EEZ, how French islands next to Canada have reduced EEZ, how Ukrainian island next to Romania has reduced EEZ. But NOPE, Greek islands next to Turkey which are even closer to our lands than those examples must have FULL EEZ and territorial waters because its 'God's will' i guess!! Some people might think we are aggressive, threatening Greece etc while we are warning them, it will 100% cause a war..

  20. This was the largest amphibious assault operation since Korean war and still the largest to this day! Vast majority of countries don't even have any capacity to carry such an operation and ofc Turkish armed forces weren't entirely ready neither. Especially coordination between commands was seriously lacking and TAF heavily relied on their own intel and caused the incident. In Turkish sources TAF pilots reported back the ships had Turkish flags and markings but TAF high command still ordered them to strike. They had no intel of Turkish ships being in the area and Greece could easily show their same destroyers as Turkish. But ofc they should had contacted the navy instead, at least after this incident coordination between commands was greatly increased. It was a failure without any question but claiming 'NATO's defense in the region wasn't so good' could be only a joke. Care to share how many times such friendly-fire incidents happen during US operations? There were incidents US planes attacked US ships during Vietnam war too even if Vietnam had no navy to speak of. And not only US destroyers were attacked even USS Boston was targeted which was a massive guided-missile cruiser! Vietnamese navy didn't even have a ship half size of USS Boston so only God knows how exactly US pilots thought it was a Vietnamese ship. The friendly-fire trend of US never even ended, in both Iraq and Afghanistan there were dozens of incidents and literally hundreds of casualties so i guess US isn't really capable of defending NATO, right?..

  28. It seems like your command was planning to resist Turkish forces, just stupid if you ask me. There was no way on Earth Turkish military could allow hostile forces remaining inside a Turkish base even if they were God's angels. So the smart action would be either evacuate the base or make sure Turkish command knew you weren't going to resist. The entire Cyprus crisis could be avoided easily if US government wasn't so sure about 'Turks bluffing' and tried to find a solution instead. Turkish government warned them like half a dozen times both in UN and NATO, even went to UK and offered them a joint operation plan which was refused. This was also why British government was also warning there was going to be an operation but Americans were still so sure it was just a bluff. You force us until we have to act then crying Turks did this, Turks did that. It is a loop happening even today somehow without learning anything from history. You might feel like you have to support Greece, Cyprus etc only because they are Christians but we will never accept it you know. There was a right wing coup happened and they were actively targeting Turkish Cypriots, it was war regardless who the heck was supporting them. At least US government decided to stay kinda neutral and didn't escalate it further. I'm really glad US presence in our country is very small these days as you never had any intentions protecting our country. You are always so quick to claim Turkey doesn't support NATO fully but somehow you don't question at all if NATO supports Turkey fully, right? As a full NATO member there shouldn't be even a question and US should had supported Turkey fully against not a NATO member Cyprus especially while they had ties with soviets but ofc we haven't ever been a full NATO member in your eyes. Just stay away from our country, we still have allies in NATO like Italians, Spanish and British who have units like Patriot batteries inside our country for purely defending us. So we won't leave NATO but US isn't one of our allies anymore..

  31.  @andreksjour  In none of those UN quotes it is stated TRNC is a puppet state of Turkey, they blame Turkey nor condemn Turkey for its establishment at all!! Turkish Cypriots established TRNC and Turkey recognized it to be able to fully support them officially. If Turkey was really trying to split the island would actively lobby for its recognition from other countries. But even if decades passed there has never been such an effort, in fact the opposite happened and Turkish side accepted an UN plan in 2004. And if Greek side also accepted it the island was united today. Care to explain why exactly Greek side refused a neutral UN plan and how exactly Turkish 'invasion' side accepted it?? You are just full of cheap excuses. For example there is absolutely no difference between establishment of TRNC and Kosovo, in fact TRNC has a legal base as a part of Cyprus government had to be Turkish before it was changed wrongly so they claim they are this Turkish part. While Kosovo has no legal base what so ever but somehow you are fine with Turkey and many other countries recognizing Kosovo but somehow recognizing TRNC is trying to split the island. Nobody has to live stateless because other side has been blocking all kind of agreements and plans including even UN ones. And if there was some justice in this world, after Greek side refused the UN plan Turkish side would had received more support. But sadly there isn't any justice so they didn't, Turkey will continue trying to find a diplomatic solution but we won't do it forever and can even annex TRNC if all other options fail. If you think international community will punish Turkey you are badly mistaken. It will be same as the operation that they will issue some weak embargoes, in fact Greece protested weak western respond and suspended their NATO membership for many years. Turkey doesn't do it not because it can't, rather because there is nothing valuable in Cyprus. This isn't a video game that all lands are valuable and generate profit, rather in reality Turkey has been loosing billions of dollars supporting TRNC!! So Turkey would rather the island is united and booming with tourism. Perhaps you have no idea but Cyprus was one of the top tourism destinations in Med before the war. But likelihood of an agreement is getting decreased every year, at this rate best option will be a two state solution while even that is pretty low chance. Turkey would mostly likely annex it in few decades then you can cry as much as you want but nobody will care tho..
