It is extremely difficult and often impossible for foreigners who are not officially and legally residing in Switzerland to buy property in Switzerland - the Swiss law is very, very tough on that subject. Authorisation to purchase property is intended to prevent Swiss territory from falling into foreign hands. Not all foreign nationals require authorisation. It depends on their nationality and/or their residence status in Switzerland.
